‘Is there a story behind your name?’, I asked. ‘Indeed, there is!’, replied my colleague.
When my colleague’s mother was pregnant with her, the doctors advised the mother not to proceed with the baby as the baby had ‘some’ complications and may not survive a full-term and it is risky to go ahead with the baby.
Her mom replied, ‘No, I have faith in my baby and she will survive!’ (By the way, in Australia, it is okay to know the sex of the baby before birth) and went ahead with the baby and delivered a healthy, full-term baby.
The Australian mom named her baby, “Faith”.

The baby was in a breech (abnormal) position for birth and the chances of a normal delivery seemed remote. As the baby is also a premature one, the doctors informed the mother, that if it is going to be a C-section, it is tricky and they will isolate and observe the baby for few days in a separate room.
They further added, “Let us wait for a couple of hours and if the baby does not align to a fetal (normal) position, we will do a C-section”.
The mother spoke to the child, ‘my dear baby, please change your position and be ready for normal birth. If not, it is going to be a risky C-section and mom may not be able to touch you, hold you for a few days’.
Within few hours, as the mother requested, the baby turned 180 degrees and it was a normal birth. The Indian mom named her daughter, “Karishma” (‘Miracle’ in Sanskrit language).
Miracles do happen when you have faith.
